GOLF EXPERIENCE
I started playing competitive golf when I was 12 years old. I won my first State Open (Perak Ladies Open) at the age of 14 years old. At 15 years old, I was selected to represent the country to play the Queen Sirikit Cup in New Zealand.
Some of the greatest highlights of my golfing experience is being the first Malaysian woman to win the Malaysian Ladies Open. I still hold the record of being the only one who has won that title 5 times. In 1992, I emerged the individual winner in the Queen Sirikit Cup (China) and our team took 3rd place, the highest placing our Malaysian ladies team has ever achieved in that prestigious tournament. In 1993, our team took the gold medal in the South East Asian (SEA) Games and I took the individual silver medal. I also had the opportunity to play 4 years of collegiate golf over in the United States.
Throughout my golfing years I have been under the tutelage of many golf coaches such as Barry Bluah, Norman Von Nida, Kel Llewellyn, Alan Murray and Andrew Argus. I have learned valuable lessons from each one.

*2017 Kuala Lumpur SEA Games - Training Coordinator for Malaysian Golf Association (MGA) and Team Manager for the SEA Games Women’s Golf Team. Our team won the Bronze medal in the team event.
*2018 Golf Coach for the Negeri Sembilan SUKMA team
*2019 Philippines SEA Games - Golf coach for the SEA Games Women’s Golf Team. Our team won the Silver medal in the team event.

I was thinking to myself, should I get a coach?
After 2 months into my adventures in golf, I stumbled upon Coach Lim and decided to give coaching a shot. In between, I bought some clubs, a golf membership and other accessories that are indispensable to play a round of golf. Best money spent, I have to say is getting a coach, and Coach Lim is a good fit for me. I like honesty, and truth be told, it is hard to come by. I expected that from her and got nothing less. She is generous in her knowledge sharing, patience with me as a ground digger, ball topper, tree magnet, and many other things you can think of on the golf course. Some may say ‘demanding’, but I prefer the word ‘encourage’. She has her standard, and it is not the easiest thing to achieve. But, if you want to be better at something, I believe is fair to say you have to put in the hard work. If you are willing to put in the time and effort, I would recommend getting a coach, and I sincerely hope Coach Lim is a good match for you too. May the wind be always at your back, and may you play with the joy you had as a child!

Lim Ai Lian has been my personal golf coach since 2020 and she is a very committed coach. She shares my aspirations to be a better golfer. She will continue to seek ways and means even after the normal golf lessons to make me a better golfer which I have. I have improved tremendously due to her hardwork and commitment to make me. I started my golf journey around 2 months ago. Since then, Ai Lian has been my golf coach. She always looks for ways to improve my technique (which is under development) bringing all sort of aid to the lessons, also sharing her personal experience, just as a probe on how committed she is to coach. I know that it is still a long way to go but I can say that i have improved a lot under her coaching and guidance.
